Best of 2020

29.12.2020 — VF AT HOME : Our Best of 2020 …

Social distancing measures couldn’t stop the Verbier Festival’s commitment to connect artists and audiences during the unprecedented challenges we all faced in 2020. As music-lovers around the world stayed at home to work, self-isolated and looked after their families, VF at Home aimed to bring comfort, solidarity and some relief in trying times. Here are three of our favourite VF at Home posts from the past year.

Beethoven: The Interpreters
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet & Charles Sigel

French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet joins Charles Sigel for a two-part conversation about Beethoven and the elements of his genius: virtuosity, architecture and poetry.

Lauréat 2016, Prix Yves Paternot

FRANZ SCHUBERT ‘Auf der Bruck’ D.853

This recording of Schubert’s ‘Auf der Bruck’ was made possible with funds from the Prix Yves Paternot, and was made during Milan Siljanov’s 2019 visit to Verbier.

The Carnival of the Animals

As part of the Unlimited programme at the 2019 Verbier Festival, children took part in a week of creative ‘Storytellers’ workshops centred around The Carnival of the Animals. Illustrations, masks and musical discovery were on the menu. To conclude the week, drawings by our VF Kids were featured in animated film set to a live performance of the Saint-Saëns classic.
